Celebrate liberty with the most dedicated students, activists, and scholars in the city where the ideals of the American Revolution were born!
From 8 am till 11 pm, become acquainted with and hear incredible speeches by top scholars and activists in the liberty movement. Immerse yourself in the philosophy of freedom, meet like-minded students, network with the leaders in the movement, gain new ideas, and become the next generation of leaders who will preserve our essential academic, social, and economic liberties. You will take back with you a bundle of resources in student organizing, academic support, networks for internships and jobs, great memories and even greater friends!
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all covered. After a great day of speeches, discussion sessions and panels on academic issues and student leadership, let loose at our freedom lovers’ social on Saturday night!

Speakers
Keynote speaker Dr. Alan Charles Kors, nationally distinguished scholar of European history at the University of Pennsylvania and big-time advocate of academic freedom, discusses “Can There Be An “After Socialism?”
Dr. Kors holds innumerable acclaim for his life’s work, including the Lindback Award and the Ira Abrams Memorial Award for distinguished college teaching and several national awards for the defense of academic freedom. In 2005, he received the National Humanities Medal at the White House for his study in European intellectual thought and the humanities. He has lectured all over the world on topics in history, classical liberalism and academic freedom. He has authored numerous books, and has served on the Board of Governors of The Historical Society and on the Executive Committee of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.
Dr. Nigel Ashford, world acclaimed professor of politics and senior program officer at the Institute for Humane Studies, discusses “Changing The World For Liberty.”
Widely published across the world, Dr. Ashford is highly esteemed for his academic work at the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation in Sweden, the Heritage Foundation, and at the Social and Philosophy Policy Center in Bowling Green. He is a recipient of the International Anthony Fisher Trust Prize for published work which strengthens public understanding of the political economy of the free society.
Dr. James Lark III, Former chairman of the Libertarian National Committee and current notable professor of engineering at the University of Virginia, gives his renown tips on spreading liberty on campus!
Dr. Lark is an assistant professor in the Systems Engineering Department and adjunct professor in the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. He has served as visiting scholar at the Center for the Study of Public Choice (Virginia Tech) and Earhart Foundation Visiting Fellow at the Center for Research in Government Policy and Business (University of Rochester). Former chairman at the LNC, Dr. Lark has served the cause of liberty extensively throughout his career, coordinating libertarian campus efforts, chairing various libertarian committees, advising campaigns, and more!
Dr. Ed Hudgins, senior scholar and advocacy director at the Atlas Society, speaks to us about the moral and objectivist perspective on liberty!
Dr. Hudgins is the former director of regulatory and economic policy at Heritage and Cato, editor of Regulation Magazine, senior economist for the Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress, and executive director of Atlas. He is widely published and has testified numerous times before Congress. He has appeared on NBC’s “Dateline NBC,” National Public Radio, PBS, Fox News Channel, CNN, MSNBC and Voice of America. An extremely vibrant speaker on any panel, he will speak to us on the objectivist and moral perspective on liberty!
Radley Balko, Senior editor at Reason Magazine and Reason.com, discusses “Myths About the Criminal Justice System,” exploring the differences between what our courts have determined to be legal and what most people would consider just.
Previously, Mr. Balko was a policy analyst for the Cato Institute specializing in civil liberties issues, where he published a paper on alcohol policy and a groundbreaking study on paramilitary police raids.
He has been published in The Wall Street Journal, Playboy, Time, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Slate, Forbes, ESPN, the National Post, Worth and numerous other publications. Balko has also appeared on the BBC, CNN, CNBC, Fox News Channel, MSNBC and NPR. From 2002 until 2009 he was a columnist for FoxNews.com.
Balko’s work on paramilitary raids was even was cited by Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer’s dissent in the case Hudson v. Michigan!
Timothy Lee, adjunct Cato scholar on computer technology, brings science and tech to the discussion on liberty!
An affiliate of the Center for Information Technology Policy at Princeton University and regular contributor to the most widely read technology blogs and news sites in the U.S, Mr. Lee brings to us the unique relationship between information technology and individual freedom.
Matthiew Brouillette, President of the Commonwealth Foundation, forewarns: “State Government: Ignore it at your own risk!”
Matthiew is the author of numerous articles, Op-Eds, and studies related to education reform in Michigan. As a former Director of Education policy at the Mackinac Center, Brouillette appeared in many of Michigan’s major newspapers and on radio and television programs across the state.
Adam Kissel, Director of the defense program at the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education.
With degrees from Harvard University and The University of Chicago, Adam has been a director of the Lehrman American Studies Center and the Jack Miller Center for the Teaching of America’s Founding Principles. LOLA is a women’s organization for the liberty movement designed to use educational means, training, seminars, PR, and outreach to inspire and equip prospective women leaders in the movement! Allison Gibbs travels with the renown Motorhome Diaries to spread liberty all across the country!
Jared Fuller, Southern Director of Students For Liberty, Co-Founder of Year of Youth, and Founder of the Wake Forest Young Americans For Liberty Chapter!
Among his many accomplishments as a young lover of liberty, his new project, Year of Youth, is dedicated to building a vibrant network of students, activists, organizers, candidates, intellectuals, and any other citizens who are concerned for their country’s future. This project intends to prepare hundreds and possibly thousands of libertarian youth campaigns to flood state and local political offices starting in 2012 to finally enact the change we want in our government!
Stacy Litz, Vice president of the Student Liberty Front and president of the Students for a Sensible Drug Policy chapter at Drexel University, she is a rising powerhouse in the student liberty movement!
Stacy Litz is a pre-junior, political science major at Drexel University. In addition to her official positions in the student liberty movement, she is involved with many organizations, including Students For Liberty, Campaign for Liberty, the Ladies of Liberty Alliance, Year of Youth and more. Special Commemoration
The Philadelphia Students For Liberty Conference celebrates liberty by commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, which follows the conference two days later.

We should have events like these more often. If anyone from the Ayn Rand Center’s there they’re definitely in some trouble; their CR wouldn’t allow me to get an interview with any of their scholars for my documentary on the financial crisis.
